A midlife journey of gender variance.

the cicada is a perfect mascot for my logo. they are an insect of which certain varieties spend 17 years burrowed underground as wingless nymphs. at some point, they intuitively know it’s time to emerge. they do so when the ground surface has reached an optimum temperature in which they can thrive. it is then that they grow into their final form, develop their wings, and begin to make noise.

A change in the constitution of rock, specifically, a pronounced change effected by pressure, heat, and water that results in a more compact and more highly crystalline condition.

Serpentine is a metamorphic rock that’s abundantly found in the mountains and hills where I live. I’ve always been drawn to it and have collected many pieces of it during my hiking adventures throughout the years. Little did I know of its symbolic significance to me until i was developing the name TransMetamorphic for my digital content. I wanted the name to be representative of positive, transformative change. I experienced an immediate resonance when i read the definition of metamorphism and subsequently discovered that serpentine is metamorphic. now understanding the deeper symbolism, it’s no wonder this rock has always called to me. This is a macro image I took of one of my specimens. I’m obsessed with its texture and stunning antique-green color.
